As we reported in the July 16 email to the community, a COVID-19 Task Force was formed to determine (1) under what conditions we can conduct a weekend, (2) the required procedures to meet those conditions, and (3) how each aspect of an Emmaus Weekend must comply. We also stated that we would only hold the fall weekends if it was safe to do so while meeting Task Force recommendations in accordance with local and state guidelines.
The Task Force reviewed the Governor’s current Executive Orders, along with guidelines from multiple organizations and research results and ultimately felt we are unable to fully comply with the Executive Orders to conduct a safe and meaningful three-day experience this fall. As a result, the North Georgia Emmaus Co-Board voted on July 14 to postpone all 2020 Fall North Georgia Emmaus Walks until 2021. An updated schedule will be provided in the next Loveletter.
