The King’s Retreat is a self contained retreat and conference center, with conference rooms, dorms, kitchen and dining and chapel all under one roof. King’s Retreat is available for your group to rent, whether for spiritual retreat, conference, church event, holiday program or team building exercise.

Facts about the King’s Retreat

The property sits on 4.6 acres and has parking spaces for up to 250 vehicles. The compound contains an Open Covered Pavilion with 1152 square feet, a detached “White House” w/ heat and AC, 1350 sq. ft., 2 bath rooms, 2 commodes, 3 showers, 3 dorm rooms w/ 12 bunks (24 beds), a Living room/den and a large 10’X40′ front porch.

The Main Building (formerly an elementary school) is constructed of brick and block with central heat and AC, 18,000 sq.ft. of floor space, a main conference room of 1345 sq.ft. with 60 padded chairs, 7- 6′ round tables, 2- 8′ tables, PA system, and two wall-mounted 55″ computer monitors.

The Chapel/Conference Room is 1316 sq.ft. with 70 padded chairs, piano, 2-8′ tables, PA system and a 55″ .

An additional conference/activity room holds 1494 sq.ft. and 21-8′ wooden bench seats for 168 people, and a wall-mounted 55″ computer monitor.

Other features in the main building include 4 half baths; large bath w/4 commodes and 1 sink; main shower room w/ 2 commodes, 13 fiberglass showers, 5 sinks; another shower room w/ 2 commodes, 4 sinks, 9 fiberglass showers; a men’s room w/ 2 commodes, 2 urinals, 2 sinks; a small prayer room; 7 dorm rooms holding a total of 73 bunk beds (146 beds) and several storage rooms and support rooms.

The facility has a commercial kitchen with: soup pot stove, commercial range, 2 convection ovens, 2 oven warmers, 1 reach-in refrigerator, 1 Walk-in cooler, 1 double dishwasher, ice machine, 2 double prep sinks, clothes washer and dryer, pots, pans and dishes to feed 175-200 people. The adjacent dining room is 1800 sq.ft. with 16-8′ tables, 2-5′ tables and 115  metal folding chairs.

Directions from Atlanta, Marietta, and points south on I-75

Go I-75 North to Glade Road Acworth exit, turn left and proceed to Hwy 92 and go right. Follow Hwy 92 to US Hwy 41 and turn right. Once on 41, go north about two and a half miles to the 3rd traffic light, just past mile marker 23 and turn left onto Black Acre Trail. Note the road has a different name (3rd Army Rd.) to the right. Follow Black Acre Trail about 7 miles to a dead end into Hwy 61. Black Acre Trail will change it’s name to Dabbs Bridge Road while you are on it. Go south (left) 2 miles to School Road. Left onto School Road to Kings Retreat on left just past car wash.

Directions from Chattanooga, Rome, and points north on I-75

Go I-75 South to Route 113 west through Cartersville. Hwy 61 South will join up with 113. When they split, follow Hwy 61 past mile marker 20 to School Road on left. Turn left onto School Road to Kings Retreat on left just past car wash.

Directions from Hwy 120

Go from Marietta west toward Dallas. Turn right onto Hwy 6. Proceed to Dallas and turn right at the Courthouse onto Hwy 61 North. Go about 7 miles to just past mile marker 19 to School Road on right. Turn right onto School Road to Kings Retreat on left just past car wash.

Directions from I-20

Exit Thornton Road and turn right. This will cross a major road and become Hwy 278 West. Go right on Hwy 61 and proceed through Dallas then another approximately 7 miles to just past mile marker 19 to School Road on the right. Turn right onto School Road to Kings Retreat on left just past car wash.

Note: School Road is between mile markers 19 and 20 on Ga Hwy 61. There is a sign “Burnt Hickory Ballfield” at the corner of School Road and Hwy 61. Depending on when you come, you may have to enter from the back entrance on the left after passing the building.
